NORFOLK, Va. – Reginald Johnson and Deron Powers each scored 18 points to lead five Hampton players in double figures as the Pirates downed Morgan State 91-71 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament opening round Monday. Brian Darden scored 15 points, and Ke’Ron Brown and Charles Wilson-Fisher added 10 each to help the sixth-seeded Pirates (13-17) advance to face third-seeded Maryland Eastern Shore in the quarterfinals Thursday at 6 p.m. Hampton outscored Morgan State (7-24) 10-5 over the final 3:21 of the first half to open up a 32-27 halftime lead.
